Who is GaLaLea?

Get to know the GaLaLea Team

The founder of GaLaLea, Dr. Monika Lubitz, grew up bilingual in English and German. She graduated from high school with A-Levels in English and French. Then she studied Social Anthropology and Japanese Studies, and learnt other languages such as Spanish and Indonesian as well. She also obtained her Latinum, which is required to pursue a master’s degree in humanities in Bavaria, Germany.
During her doctoral studies, she spent more than five years in Japan. There she began teaching German and English at universities using traditional textbooks.
Through her doctoral studies, she perfected her Japanese language skills. She also gave a lecture on European Union regional studies in Japanese for several semesters.
After returning from Japan, she completed her doctorate and worked as an interpreter and translator for about 30 years. At the same time, she began teaching German and business English to Japanese and Japanese grammar at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich.
She brings around 35 years of experience in teaching foreign languages to GaLaLea GbR, particularly the innovative methods for getting started with language learning.

During the pandemic, she used the time to further her education in brain-friendly learning and teaching methods according to Vera F. Birkenbihl. With her presentation on the use of these methods in Japanese lessons, she was certified as a Birkenbihl Practitioner Level 2.
These strategies are are part of the GaLaLea methods: She wrote the texts for the audio recordings used in the warm-up and, together with Oliver Fuhr, further developed the decoding strategy for German.

After completing his studies in German and English language and literature and teaching at the University of Kassel, Oliver Fuhr moved to Barcelona in 1994. There he worked as a traditional German teacher at a large language institute for about 20 years.
Over the years, he increasingly encountered obstacles and learning barriers that made it difficult to teach German in a satisfactory manner.
At the latest after his training as a personal coach, he has taken on the challenge to develop concepts that accelerate the learning process. They are meant to make it easier for learners from the very beginning to use the language intuitively in conversation.
The resulting Language Play methodology is based on concepts such as gamification and neurolinguistic programming. It includes didactic approaches to activating self-learning skills leading learners to confidence. The materials intuitively guide the learners through the rules of the language.
For about 10 years, he has been teaching German as a foreign language with Language Play as a learning tool. He also introduces learners to Spanish and English as a language coach.
He has been contributing his expertise and Language Play to GaLalea since 2019.
In collaboration with Dr. Monika Lubitz, he is further developping and newly creating materials. Together they also develop course strategies.
Additionally he coordinates the training of tutors in the use of our materials and the didactic concepts of Language Play.

Zhibin Wang is from China and studied art history and English at the University of Würzburg in Germany. After completing his master’s degree, he became a German and English teacher in China.
He is very popular with his students for his empathetic and differentiated approach. He cultivates his German language skills with just as much patience and tact. It has always been his goal to show and convey the beauty and uniqueness of the German language to his students. His special contribution to German language teaching consists of his self-developed method of observing, understanding, and learning correct German pronunciation.

Johann Jancik joined our team in May 2025. A certified trainer and Master Neuro Linguistic Seller (Marc Galal Academy GmbH) with an IHK certificate, 25 years of professional experience in management positions, and a hands-on mentality, he advises on subject-specific training and language instruction, support programs, and general continuing education opportunities. He is our expert in project management and network partner development and is responsible for international recruiting.
We also work with many language teachers in Germany and abroad. Some of them have BAMF certification, including for low-threshold-courses.
Many of our courses are set up for groups of students from a single country. In such cases, we prefer to use teachers who speak their native language. This is in line with our concept of guiding students from their native language into the new language.
